Re: Electric guitar :]

After looking, I would have to say the Fender, but not sure what style of music you'd like to play.

This is my baby

Re: Electric guitar :]

Oh, a piece of advice about getting a guitar:

If you are very serious about learning or want to get better, don't go cheap. When it comes to guitars, more often that not, you get what you pay for.

If it is really cheap, there will likely be problems(keeping in tune, parts breaking, warped neck, cheap frets).
Not saying to break the bank, but don't go getting a piece of crap, because the problems that can arise would very likely turn you "off" from wanting to keep playing. Basically, with the problems, it will piss you off until you all but stop trying.

Also, knowing this first-hand, the better it plays, the more you will enjoy it.

but i have a question, if im getting a fender, what model?
like there is squire and the stratocaster. I heard really bad comments about the squire series. there is also alot of countries like china and India making them now.
Go for USA? made?

Re: Electric guitar :]

Of course, i'm going to say U.S. made, but it all depends on who you ask.

Getting a guitar, a lot of the time, is hit or miss. You could have 2 identical guitars, side by side. One could be fine, and the other, not so fine.

The Squire gets a lot of crap from people that play really expensive guitars, because they aren't all flashy and expensive. I've played them, along with Strat's, tele's, all kinds of 80's electrics ( Kramers, ESP, EBMM, Ibanezand of course the Jackson that I have ). The other big factor, besides what kind of music you would be playing, is the weight of the guitar. Mine, is ok...not really heavy and it's what I like. I've had roughly 11 guitars since I was 14, and there were some that were like cement blocks, and some that, if I didn't know any better, were made of cardboard, lol.

I'm not sure what to tell you really. It all comes down to personal preference. Visit a place that has guitars if possible, and play around with a few. The only time I ever bought guitars was when I could sit and feel it out to see if it fit my size, and felt right to me.

My only real sound advice is about cheapness. Don't get one just because it's cheap. Doing that is very regrettable....believe me, I know.

Don't overspend either, don't go crazy and spend tons of money on one, at least not your first one. A midrange price(depending on where you live) is usually a safe bet. Do a lot of looking, feeling, and playing with some guitars before you decide.
