Hi,,
Just trying to get some general feedback and opinions on the New Ipad..
what you guys think..
I think its a good product/ fashion wise but not Geeks wise.. good for entertainment and movies but very limited.

... thoughts...

Is depends on how you view a computer:

A tool with set functions which it should do well or

Something to be tinkered with, upgraded; a quantity over quality over efficiency, over practicality sort of view.

This can easily be compared to the Windows ethic (work with everything but not seamlessly) and the Mac ethic (work with limited hardware but do it really well and very seamlessly, I mean when was the last time you heard a Mac user complain of a DSoD or driver installation problems?).

I believe in both ethics but I would not use an iPad nearly enough for its price so I'd say no to buying one at the moment at least.

I've always thought the iPad would be easy to use for someone who isn't very computer savvy. I wouldn't mind having one tucked up in my back-pack so I can watch some movies while at college... I'm sure there will be a myriad of new and better tablets than even the glorified iPad; in the new future.

For now, I'm sticking with my PC.

In 20 years time you'll be able to pick up one of them for about $30. They will not be that popular...A kids toy really!

I don't know, it just seems like another "gadget" that doesn't have a really practical use. If I want a portable pc, i'll get a laptop. There's no limitations at least.

For the price......never, i'd rather have a netbook than an iPad.

good point.

the ipad is really limited in what it can do. its just as good as a netbook but it costs hella alot more than an actual netbook

I think that although it has the functionality, it is trying to fit inbetween two markets, the mobile phone and the laptop.

I think it would be fun to use for a week or so but after that I would rather just stick with my netbook.

hmm.. The thing is that I will never use a MAC but I have an Iphone.. if I can use an ipad to do more stuffs than my iphone.. i will think about it.. wats interesting me is that I can watch movies anywhere and seems they said the battery last long?? which I doubt.. so.. still considering as with its cost its not something to just try but actually consider where it will fit the needs..

I use windows mobile.. I have one note which syncro with my work pc and get all my emails etc etc.. view html files.. that blackberry can't do and even iphones..
I am waiting for microsoft to take out better Windows mobiles as it seems they are slow on that part.. come on give us good windows mobiles.. I can't upgrade my one to windows 7 I am running windows mobile 6.1 ..

My Computer

I could really find something like this very handy, but a big iphone just ain't for me.

I'll wait to see what everybody else brings to the market over the next few months and hopefully I can get something similar running Windows 7.

The only thing I know about them is from seeing the TV adverts, now seeing the price of them no way will I have one.

It's not something I need anyway, I'm not mobile so my desktop works for me, don't even have a laptop.

To me it looks more the sort of thing the younger generation will go for, you know the must have the latest gadget brigade. :geek:

The ipad isn't very good at all for a start they had a major disaster when they brought out itunes 9.1 for the ipad and were itunes won't open... another point is the memory and battery life for the ipad. The memory is too small to fit music and movies on just one or the other and the battery life lasts only 1 hour and 30 mins!!!!

Over all not worth it,
Josh

I went to the Apple Store the other day to try out the iPad.

My opinion is:

It's a fabulous gaming device and ereader.

It's very fun and intuitive to use.

It's great or watching Videos and browsing the web.

But...

It's basically an underpowered touch screen Mac, I would have liked it much more if it could run Mac OS X natively - even if it is a bit cut down.

If you have a PC/Mac and don't read many books what is there it can do that your computer can do really? Not much.

For the price; I wouldn't pay for it. I'm an Apple person and I've accepted that Apple products cost more than other stuff and generally in my opinion it's worth it (you may disagree) but the iPad is much less than half the Spec of my Mac (see System Specs) but costs about half the price (and that's just the base model!) and can't do anything my Mac or iPhone can't already do.

That's not to say I don't want one.

But for what it is it's not worth the money.

Maybe next year with iPad 2.0.... but we'll see.

Oli
