Solved BSOD on HP PC - something I found that might help others

I have a HP pavilion PC and was experiencing BSOD every 2 or 3 days, PC would just shut down for no apparent reason with no pattern to the shutdowns. Just over a month ago I happened to be looking at the available driver updates on the HP site and noticed one for the bios, so I downloaded and installed it. From that day I have had no BSODs.
Thought this might help someone in similar situation with same PC :)

Thanks for sharing, but most of us check the BIOS first :P

Just pointing out that BSOD are usually hardware/driver related - if the problem isn't solved from updating drivers, then there's a fairly high chance the BIOS is out of date.

In the weeks I was experiencing the BSODs I was never once advised to update the bios. I posted my problem in various tech forums. Not this one I might add, as I didn't discover it until my problem was solved.

I purchased a new HP PC and had this happening to me ALL the time. It drove me insane. I even rang the HP support line and they told me to restore to factory settings. No mention of checking BIOS or updating drivers. When the restore failed to work, they advised me to change the PC as it was still only 3 weeks old.

Glad to know it's not just me that was never given this info. To be honest, I've never seen suggestions trying bios updates for bsods anywhere. If this was common knowledge as implied, then it would appear more in tech forums, surely?
