Blue Screen/Restart

NTH1

New Member
Hi, my laptop is a few weeks old. It is an ASUS K501J with Vista Home Premium installed. After about 2 weeks, it started to restart by itself on a daily basis. After doing a bit of research, i tried to solve it by disabling auto-restart via control panel. This stopped it from restarting, however now, i get blue screen errors daily.

The error message i receive on startup is:

Problem signature
Problem Event Name BlueScreen
OS Version 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
Locale ID 2057

Additional information about the problem
BCCode d1
BCP1 0000001C
BCP2 00000002
BCP3 00000000
BCP4 8E5AC79F
OS Version 6_0_6002
Service Pack 2_0
Product 768_1

The error message does continue to name some files which may help describe the problem, am not sure if they are necessary to post here.

Will thank whoever helps me with this in advance since it is becoming quite annoying now. Will appreciate any help.

Regards
Nathan

first can you go to c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us to analyze.

If you havent filled in your system specs (lower left corner of your posts) copuld you fill them in so we know what hardware you have

sometimes you have to take ownership of the dump file. first you can try dragging them to your desktop. If still no joy then take wonership of the last couple of dumps by following the instructions here http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html?ltr=T

hope this helps

still looks like the L1E60x86.sys file is still causing the crash. Its over a year old so that may be an issue. I dont know if there is a newer one. You can check the version and compare it to the one here to see which is newer. the driver is the atheros if your driver has a lower version number than the one in the link upgrade it. if the same dont bother.

From the last dump file:
OVERLAPPED_MODULE: Address regions for 'athr' and 'athr.sys' overlap

This indicates a problem with the driver and how it addresses memory. The solution (IMO) is to remove all wireless drivers from your system. Then ensure that there are no remaining Atheros driver files on the system. Once all that is cleaned out, download and install the latest drivers available from the PC manufacturer's website.

Todays minidump.

Not really sure how to complete the above suggestions.
