Not sure if this is the right spot for this or not but I'm having to do all this from a cell phone so it's the best I can do.
So a few days ago my computer installed an update for vista and it needed to restart. I restarted it and when it came back up it kept telling me a registry file was missing. I put in my repair disk and repaired it and it said that the repair was successful. When it restarted all my pc would do is restart for and hour. It'd just get the the Microsoft Corp screen with the bar then restart over and over. So I reformated yesterday and everything was fine. Well I guess this morning it was still downloading some updates. I went to restart it like it asked for and boom same thing. I was missing a registry file. So I go and run the repair it says it fixes it I restart it and it does the same thing with the constant restarting. I go to reformat the driver and now I'm getting the error of 0x80070057, saying it can't partition the drive even after I deleted the old one.
So what am I missing here? Will just upgrading to windows 7 solve everything? I'd rather not if I can get this up and working. I love my vista. So any help would be great!
My specs are a 320 gig hard drive (not sure who makes it but I'm pretty sure it's set up in RAID format or whatever that is). I got 5 gigs of ram. An amd 2.3 ghz quad core processor black edition. And an ati raedon HD 3800 card. I'm not that technical savey with the spec stuff so if there is a way to get into the bios and find some stuff out I can do so. thanks in advance.
