Vista Start up Problem.

Can someone help me with a problem?

I came home after two weeks (hardly ever turn off my pc) and went to start up my pc and everything loaded but was moreless frozen. Clicked on different programs and nothing would load.
I went into safe mode with network access and everything seemed to work fine.
I did a sytem restore to a point right before I left and tried again to load in normal mode and windows green bar would go on across screen then would go black with nothing.

I went back in safe mode and went back farther in sytem restore and now safe mode is black and won't load.

I pulled out the Windows Vista Business and loaded from the Dvd and went into system repair and when I get to the System Recovery Options I get the following message:
This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the Version of Windows you are trying to repair. try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows.
This is the exact disc I installed on this PC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with an antivirus scan and download and scan with malwarebytes

If is not a virus or malware my next guess would be an update gone bad. You should not leave the computer on and update set to automatic.

How do I do a scan when the only way I can get it to even boot up is through the dvd and can't get past the error message?

Have you tried Booting into a Antivirus CD

To Make this CD you will need the Following:

  1. Another Computer with Internet Access
  2. A Blank CD
  3. An ISO Burner
  4. A CD Writable Drive

See AVG - AVG Rescue CD For the Download link

You may want to Print of the Guide see AVG - AVG Rescue CD Guide For more Information

Hope This Helps,
Josh
