Right now I have a black screen with cursor on my windows vista 64-bit home premium computer. Last night it started out by freezing up at the login screen and has only gotten worse since then. It doesn't appear as if the computer is booting in safe mode or normal mode. I want to go back to a restore point because I'm hoping an update has caused the problem, but don't know how to do that. Please help.

Okay place the Disk into your DVD Drive and restart your computer then Boot into the Disk enter the Information and select Repair my Computer
After that select System Restore and restore your Computer If that doesn't work then try Running Startup Repair

I would have been tempted to try Last Good Known F8 on start up first.

Startup repair says "startup repair could not detect a problem." It suggests removing any recently connected devices, but nothing has been hooked up to it recently (the only thing it has attached right now is the printer we've had hooked up to it for a year or so.)
