    Frequent Blue Screens...

    Hi,

My computer recently started blue screening. It doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, whether surfing the web or playing a game online, it randomly happens about once every two days.

It never happened before my college installed the ECPBus and ECPNode drivers to authenticate the wireless internet on my computer. The easiest method of fixing my problem is probably removing what they installed but if I do then I won't have a way of connecting my laptop to the internet.

I have updated both ECP's and my wireless card but it still happens. Below is some information:

    HP dv7-2043cl Laptop
    Operating System
MS Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2
    CPU
    Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00GHz
    Penryn 45nm Technology
    RAM
    4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz
    Motherboard
    Quanta 3624 (CPU)
    Graphics

1024MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 (HP)

    Audio
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
Network AdapterRealtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
    Broadcom 4322ag 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter

Using the program BlueScreenViewer a crash report has been prepared:

    Bug Check String

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Bug Check Code

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Yha the error is from the broadcom driver... bcmwl664.sys

Have you tried using the drivers from HP?

    Re: Frequent Blue Screens...

Honestly, I'd do all them all up to the bios, as I'm not sure when you updated your drivers last.

But as for the netork ones, you have the broadcom wifi card, so atleast that one.

Oh, and if you don't know your graphics card, don't worry about that either.

Okay I'll give them a shot! I'll let you know how it goes. Could take a few days as it seems to happen randomly.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Frequent Blue Screens...

Its a very bgood idea to have all updated drivers and microsoft updates..... Its quite possible that 1 small quirk is effecting an update/ms program.

Give updating a try, really can't hurt.

    Re: Frequent Blue Screens...

I had updated everything but the Network Drivers (the only one i updated in that list was the Broadcom one). I now installed/updated all of the network drivers provided. I also perform Windows Update on a regular basis. Hopefully this fixes the problem
