I would suggest that you run the scan as suggested by Niemiro and the Malwarebytes and Anti Virus scan. Make sure you update them first and make full scan. They should take an hour or more for each scan.
I have not seen anything that looks questionable in your screen shots.
i did a malwarebytes quick scan also by the way and it didn't find anything wrong
Just as suspected, you have nothing showing under the most common loading point, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
I don't really know what to say. We know why the issue is there, but not really a fix. How far did you go back with System Restore. If it was successful, and you went back to BEFORE the problem started, I can see no reason why this problem should not have been fixed.
Thanks!
Richard
thank you very much for finding the problem! I've only done system restore twice and i think i can still restore further back. do you think its a good idea to keep restoring until it gets fixed? what exactly would you say caused this kind of weirdness to the registry?![]()
Make sure that when you see the restore points available the box lower left is checked.(show additonal points). The system restore should work. Go back before the problem began. Not going back far enough is probably the problem
thank you soo much for the help guys!i will keep you posted on what happens
Good luck!
I don't really know what has happened, but my guess that by switching off the computer at just that moment it wiped the row in the database (the registry basically is a database) It is very unlikely, but I guess that you just were that 1/1,000,000 person![]()
Also, and I am sure that you already know this, if you ever need to hard reset a computer, always hold down the power button, and NEVER just switch off the mains, as this allows the hard disk platters to slow under control, and the "needle" to return to its housing. Powercuts are alright, but you may as well not add to the probability.
Thanks!
Richard
aww shucks no good guys. system restore won't take me any further and i still dont have my startup stuff. but ohwelll its gone huh? its alright i guess yea i really was unlucky haha. time to move on lol
thanks for all the assistance though! salute to the both of ya!![]()
