User profile service failed the logon....

    User profile service failed the logon....

    Hi all. My first post here. When I try to logon, I get the error message "The user Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." I went to the VistaForums web site and found a solution at The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. It worked initially, but then I began to get the same message. I tried it again and I believe I screwed it up by removing the wrong SID. Is there a way to reverse the process to find my old profile? Is it still there to be found? Any help would be appreciated.     Did you try a system restore at least 5 days before the initial problem?

    You can return to factory specs, but you will lose all your stuff unless you back up first or we can try repair options. What do you want to do?
    Repairs include
    Using the Vista install DVD
    or using the built in repair options.

    First off, let me ask do you think my old profile is still there to be rescued somewhere on the C drive? I tried another system restore and if failed due to "an unspecified error" which prevented the restore. I tried other restore points with same result.

    If you described the problem correctly, that tutorial should have worked. If it does not you will be the first with that problem and the turorial did not work.
    Want to give it another try?
