BSoD: Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal

Hi all,

I've seen a few threads regarding this issue, and it seems to be fairly common, but I have yet to find a solution that works for me.

Basically, I get the BSoD ten minutes or so after turning the PC on. At first it only happened two or three times, then stopped, but now it's every time. Sometimes I get different blue screen errors, and sometimes it just restarts with no warning at all. Virus scans come up empty, and running in safe mode makes no difference.

Attached are the two minidump files I have managed to transfer from the affected computer. If anyone could take a look and suggest a way for me to fix this problem, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

- Vista x86 (32-bit)
- Original Installation
- OEM
- System is close to 2 years old
- OS was reinstalled after a wipe-to-factory-settings 2 months ago

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:
http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/faq

Follow these instructions, report back when done. Then use computer
If you get another BSOD just post again

Good luck and Happy New Year

Thanks for the quick reply Richard, that appears to have worked. I had previously uninstalled my virtual drive, but had no idea that I needed that program as well.

As of now, I've had no crashes. I'll post back if one occurs, but if not, many thanks for your help. You've saved me a lot of trouble.

The program is the most important part. It is actually sptd that caused the problem
To be sure do this
go to search
type cmd
in cmd type driverquery
Make sure that sptd is gone

Hi all,

Sorry to drag this thread back up, but I'm having these troubles again. The errors are saying 'Memory Management' this time. If anyone could take a look at my minidump file, I'd once again be very greatful.

I haven't made any hardware changes since last time, if that's any use.

Thanks

My Computer

Dont get discouraged, very often it takes several BSOds to stop the problem,

Take this memory test and lets see where to go to from there
Download memtest86 and test RAM
www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
Run for 8 passes
If passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
If fails do the same for 8 passes.

Well, I downloaded it the test, and installed it on a USB like in the instructions said, but upon returning to the affected computer,it won't boot at all. I just get repeated long beeps and a blank screen.

I don't suppose that's something that could be fixed without the need for a specialist, is it?

My Computer

Beeps upon boot indicate a hardware problem
Give me the make and model of the computer and describe the beeps
one long three short or three long etc.
How many long beeps?

The PC is a custom built one, made by a company named 'Arbico', so I don't have a model number. Here's a list of the hardware though:

AMD AM2 Athlon64 x 2 Dual Core 500 CPU
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H Motherboard
Coolermaster 460W Dual 12V RAIL Power Supply
2x Kingston 1GB PC6400 DDR2 RAM
Nvidia 9800GTX 512MB PCI-E
360GB S-ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive

At the moment, it's just long beeps over and over. There are no short ones, and it doesn't seem to stop. Hope that helps.

My Computer

Failure of memory test
Long beeps
All point toward memory.
I suggest that you get some known good ram and test in your computer
If that does not work, it can be the ram slots.
