BSOD Causing LOTS of Problems!

Sorry I don't have the dump file you requested, it is in My Documents folder, but when I tried running perfmon /report, I got an error stating "Path was not found"

I'll tell you what I know and feel free to ask/guide as needed.

I am getting the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_ERROR message on the blue screen. I did try a previous suggestion by running sigverif.exe as administrator, while I did not get the tab mentioned in the forum, and it seemed to pass the test, I did notice something interesting at the end of the text file.

nscanned Files:
------------------
[c:\windows\c:\program files\lavasoft\ad-aware]
kernexplorer.sys The directory name is invalid.
[c:\windows\system32\drivers]
pcdrndisuio.sys The file is not installed.

Seems odd to me that pcdrndisuio.sys would be missing from windows\system32\drivers folder, but that's just me.

My system is MAYBE 3 years old, it's an HP Pavilion, no recent hardware changes. There have been some minor virus issues which prompted the software installs/uninstalls. I had (and have again) Norton 360 v4 installed, it didn't pick up the virus (ads by RON), so I tried Adaware, it didn't work, so off it came. Along the way I installed System Mechanic Pro and (for some unknown reason) uninstalled my Norton. After that, all hell broke loose. (Not really, but my computer hasn't been very productive either, between bogging down, dll files and system files stopping and blue screens. I have re-installed Norton, but due to the BSOD, I can not update it, nor can I update my windows. Help appreciated.

Yes, I know I brought this on myself.

When I try to run the "perfmon /report" I get this message...

ERROR:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified.

I'll try the second method you suggested I guess.

About grmngen.sys
VendorWalter Oney Software
ProductGeneric WDM Support Driver

The reports that you have submitted reveal clues to the cause of your problem. They do not give a definitive answer. The more reports that we receive the more clues are made available improving our chances of finding a solution to your problem. You may have to experience several more BSODs until the final answer is discovered.

Be sure to update the two drivers mentioned. All outdated drivers should be updated, but the two primary ones are listed.

If overclocking restore normal settings

SFC /scannow
System Files - SFC Command

Scan with your Anti Virus

Update outdated listed drivers. If I have inadvertently listed any Microsoft Drivers, they can be ignored. How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
and here
http://www.edbott.com/weblog/the-vista-master-driver-list/
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper
www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
You can also locate information about your driver using this information

If that Walter Oney software is part of your antivirus protecteion then
Uninstall your current Anti Virus and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Done, study and then put your books away so the test can begin.

Will do! I'll update the drivers mentioned first and let you know how things sit, as for overclocking, not on this machine. I appreciate all the help and I'll keep you posted, might be a couple of hours or more, got about a foot of snow to shovel outside.

Yeah, I love it here. Been to California, Washington, Oregon, and Mexico, still wouldn't leave Canada for more than a month or two if I didn't have to.

Still getting the BSOD, same message. I updated both drivers, even uninstalled the Garmin program that had the driver causing the most problems. What next? LOL
