BSOD Issue(s)

Hello everyone,

I have been running into bluescreen errors for about 2 weeks now. I have done countless hours searching up issues that I get from the System Report. I'm hoping that someone could point me in the right direction so I can solve my computer problems.

The problem starts when I play HoN (a video game) and doesn't occur when I browse or surf the internet.

I have updated my system on my User CP for anyone that may need that information.

Thank you so much for the help, it is beyond appreciated.

Vista :

x86 32bit Vista Home Premium
Original installed OS system - Yes
It's an OEM version
System is about 4years old max.
Age of OS system installed is at most 2 years.

Hello,

It seems that SPTD may be the cause of this. SPTD is a component of Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120% (which you're using), and has been causing many crashes in Windows 7 and Vista. Uninstall Alcohol, and then remove SPTD with the tool found here: DuplexSecure

If the BSODs persist, we'll have to start on the hardware tests. Start running these tests if you get another crash:

RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Forums

All three tests: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95 - Windows 7 Forums

Thank you Jonathan_King. I uninstalled Alcohol 120% and removed SPTD from my computer. I will let you know if this has helped or if I have to run some of the hardware tests that you have provided.

I just launched HoN and had another bluescreen. I'll run the hardware tests and see if that can pin point some bad RAM or something.

I was unable to get the RAM test to work as for some reason I can't burn a CD. I used the other prime95 program and had it run a CPU and torture test. Nothing came up wrong after a 1.5hrs running.

Should I test the video card?

I do have AOE3 and CS:S loaded on my computer along with ISO's of PS1 games with the emulator in order to play them. I have only really been playing HoN as of lately and just left the other games alone.

I believe the reason why I wasn't able to burn the CD is because I don't have a burn program besides Media Player. My winrar keeps it as a unzip folder with the readme.txt and boot folder. I attempted to put it onto a CD but windows wants to put it on a CD as a DVD RW copy in which the CD is not a DVD.

I tried playing HoN again. It seems the problem happens only when the game is actually being played. When I'm in the lobby waiting to join a server to play (it's a 5v5 game), nothing happens, only when the server loads and then you actually play, does it crash.

I ran the microsoft memory diagnostics. It came back clear with the 2 Passes that it does. I'll try running another game after today (It's my birthday) so I'll get back to you on that one. I'll try to run the Verifier. I checked out my PSU and it's 425W thinking that it might be underpowered but that seems like a decent PSU.

Happy birthday!

What is the make/model of the PSU? 425W seems on the low end, but might be workable if the PSU is of a good quality.

Thank you for the birthday wishes.

The PSU I'm not sure what make it is but the model # is 400U-425PS (just checked, it's a MIOS brand

I have verifier running, but the Diagnostic thing didn't run any programs at start up. Just basically had all the main programs running like in Safe Mode but it has the background and such.

I just played a full skirmish game of AOE3 with no BSODs. HoN must be triggering something.

Which Prime95 tests did you run?

You may try updating your Ethernet drivers (and any other drivers the tool reveals while you're at it): Intel® Driver Update Utility

The BIOS could use an update; here's one that's a little bit newer than your current one: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...d=2482&lang=eng&OSVersion= &DownloadType=BIOS

It may or may not get shown by the Driver Update Utility.
Code:

I ran Prime test (CPU Load 100%) and also ran the blended one which uses the most RAM.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the program. I might look at their forum and see if there is a fix for this issue (maybe install under C:/HoN so it has more permission).

I did play one game of HoN last night without issue while I still have verifier running. Not sure if it that has helped or not but it seemed to have done the trick as I ran into no issues last night for my game.
