winload.exe error

Sorry if this was posted already, but I looked through some threads already on here for this problem but got nowhere.

Today I was on my computer as normal, I heard the hard drive running for a very long time, but i had no processes going, so I went to restart my computer I got an error with these numbers
(stop 0x0000008E,0xc0000005,0x812c976F,0x8f8BB924,0x0000 000).
I pressed F8 and went into safe mode, went to a previous restore date and that did not work. Then I went to last known good configuration, that also failed. So then I ran my windows vista hard drive image disc that i made when i first got the computer. (My computer came with windows installed already and no hard cd of vista). After that ran, It went to start up after it loaded and now I got a black screen with a winload.exe error. I can not get past this screen now.

What can I do? Everything I read says to go into different folders and files, but I cant even get past the black screen.

What might have caused this?

Also did I erase all my information by running the hard drive image disc?

Windows 32 came pre-installed on the system. When I ran the computer for the first time out of the box, it had me create a Image File Disc.

(After the initial problem with the computer, the blue scree, I ran the Image File Disc, and thats what has led me to the current issue of the black screen with the windows\system32\winload.exe Status 0XE000000E error.)

Hello

First I know a lot of people including my self that when you buy them and get them opened up and do what the computer says to do on making a set of recovery, after you think you have them made and guard them so nothig happens to them and one day you need them and they don't do what they are suppose to. Sometime's you get good ones so if you have a friend or a family member that lives kind of close that has the same OS as you I would ask them if you can make a set of recovery disk's from there computer. I am going to send along the tutorials that will guide you through the correct procedure...

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/141820-create-recovery-disc.html

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/194765-system-recovery-options.html

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html

You might want to read this tutorial also about black screens, I am not sure that it will be of any help, but read it and see if anything applys to your system...

Thanks for your help.

I tried what you suggested, downloading the torrent file making the file an .iso then making an boot disc with that .iso file, but had the same error.

I found that my son had a image recovery disc that he made when he first ran his laptop. That also did not work. He found a Windows Anytime Upgrade disc he had recieved with the laptop purchase. I figured I'll try that, I have nothing to lose, and sure enough after a few clicks and trials it seems to have loaded a copy of windows over my existing operating sytem even creating a folder for my old files. Everything loaded like it was fresh out of the box. So far everything is running like normal. Luckily all I seem to have lost is what files and programs I had install on my C drive. I had a backup of everything else on my D drive.

Would that Recuva program by piriform.com work in retrieving those files by any chance?

Hi
I ran the recuver program, it showed the same files that were saved when I used the windows anytime upgrade disc. Using this upgrade disc only started vista, I went to my control panel programs, features and the only program showing was recuva. I then tried to use my Image File Disc thinking previous error (winload.exe) would no longer be an issue. After trying to use Image File Disc I now get error 0xa000000e. I would really like to restore comp. if possible.

Ok, here is the information you are requesting, along with the zip file. I believe this is what you wanted.
AMD Athlon 64x2 duel core 5600+ 2.80 GHZ 3GB memory
- x86 (32-bit) - Vista Home Premium
- OEM
- What is the age of system (hardware)? March 2008
- What is the age of OS installation - March 2008
*I have not reinstalled the operating system, it came pre-installed on the machine. The only Vista items I have installed are the normal windows updates and as i stated in a prior post I installed that Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Disc that got my system to at least load past the error screen.

hi I failed to mention my computer is a desktop Acer Aspire m3100, if that helps? I was reading an article pertaining to Acer that there could possibly be a problem with partitions when trying to use an image disc.

See if you can boot using the repair procedure
If you create a recovery DVD, you may be able to boot to recovery options
Create Recovery DVD

The Vista recovery disk is used to boot Vista when it won't boot - to run Startup Repair, System Restore, access a Command Line, Recover using a Vista Backup Image, etc.
System Recovery Options. Choose an option tht will not cause you to lose your stuff.

If Vista will not start now, boot the Recovery CD to run Startup Repair which automates System Restore as well as numerous other tests including System File Checker which can repair system files which are not corrupted beyond repair.

If Vista still will not start, try booting into Safe Mode to run sfc /scannow to repair System files.
Special Thanks Given to Seven Forums.

Below is a bulletin distributed by MS to explain the start up procedure when Windows will not boot.
  • Startup Repair. Startup Repair is a Windows recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as missing or damaged system files, that might prevent Windows from starting. Startup Repair is located on the System Recovery Options menu, which is on the Windows Vista installation disc. If your computer has preinstalled recovery options, it might also be stored on your computer's hard disk. For more information, see Startup Repair: frequently asked questions and What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista? If your computer does not include Startup Repair, your computer manufacturer might have customized or replaced the tool. Check the information that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.
  • Change restart settings in safe mode. If your computer is stuck in a loop where Windows fails, attempts to restart, and then fails again repeatedly, restart your computer in safe mode and select the Disable automatic restart on system failure checkbox. For more information, see Advanced startup options (including safe mode).
  • Reinstall. If no other options have solved the problem, and you are sure that your computer's hardware is functioning normally, you might need to reinstall Windows. A custom (clean) installation of Windows will permanently delete all of the files on your computer and reinstall Windows, so only use this option if all other recovery options have been unsuccessful. After the installation, you will need to reinstall your programs and restore your files from backup copies. For more information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows**.

Thanks for getting back to me. As of right now, Windows is able to load on start up of system because of that Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade disc I ran, however that is only a trial and will only last another day or two before I have to upgrade and purchase a new windows OS. Today I notice that my DVD/RW drive is not recognizing anything I put in it. Everything comes up as blank. How would I even be able to load that disc you want me to make, when now the drive isn't even working. I'm getting lost here, not sure if what i did in my earlier post or that upgrade disc did anything to affect the dvd/rw drive since it was working before I installed that disc. Would changing the bios to allow the system start from cd-rom, let that iso disc load? I'm Lost.

Thanks for all your assistance.

Ok, the dvd/rw drive ran when I put that iso disc in. It ran through the repair. Windows loaded and a system configuration window came up. Thats where I am.

- Am I supposed to change anything in that?

- Am I now back to the original windows files, folders, programs, and configuration that were on the machine when I first purchased it? {I realize that the Acer items that came with the machine are probably gone.}

- I registered my product key and its verified.

- Are there any steps or tips I should take next or am I able to just go back to using the machine as normal and installing my other programs i.e. MS Office, Firefox, MS Money, etc.?

From your description it sounds like you are ok.
I would make a system restore point at this juncture. In the event that things go wrong the System, Restore should be able to fix it again.
I do wish you luck and sorry that you are having all these problems.

Where you are depends on what you actually did.
A system restore would put you back to where you were last
A factory restore would put you back to where you were when you bought the computer. In any event it sounds like the problem is solved.

Thank you both for your help, it took a bit, but I'm back up and running. The first time I tried to make the .iso disc it did not work for some reason, but the second time it did. Second times a charm I guess. Thanks again.

-What may have caused this?
-Is there a way to prevent it in the future?
-Do they have a .iso file that does the same thing for XP?
