HELP! My computer has been screwed up for the past two days, and usually when things get this bad I use System Restore to get my poor acer back to normal, but now I try to start System Restore and when the program tries to run I get this message:
Error: 0x80070057 - The parameter is incorrect

The bug I had was pretty brutal. Nothing on my computer would run without me going through and finding the proper program to run it. I managed to get "exe." things running (whatever those are) because I wanted to install Microsoft Security Essentials and it was an "exe." thingy (trust me I only sound stupid).

So after I noticed that I couldn't change my theme, or Display Settings in the personalization menu, Windows Defender couldn't run, and System Restore couldn't run either, I realized there is still a huge problem with my computer that I alone am incapable of solving. Now I'm at the point where I just want to reset my computer to factory settings, so on the boot up screen I press F8 to get to the "repair computer" option, but then I can't even do that because it takes me to some login screen and with a blank username and password boxes. I tried using my usual username and password that I use to access my normal computer account but those didn't work, and I have no idea of what else to put.

I seriously need help!!!! PLEASE PLEASE I WANT MY POOR LAPTOP TO BE NORMAL AGAIN! It's like working with a handicap computer!

Welcome
Run a full anti virus scan
Download and run a full, updated scan with malwarebytes. If these are negative, try and see if this helps
Try to reset the exe and lnk(LNK) associations.
Default File Type Associations - Restore

I can't get the updated version because my computer is only functional in safe mode (every time i start up normally I get the blue screen) so I can't access the internet. I'm using the family computer to post on this forum, but I scanned with the un-updated malwarebytes and it detected 29 bugs, so it removed them and I tried to start up normally and once again I got the blue screen, so I started up in safe mode again.

OK important things first. Follow the clean boot procedure to find the cause of the blue screen.

well i got it down to five programs, clicked one, and all hell broke loose!!! Ok so now blue screen comes on almost immediately after pressing the power button, and safe mode won't load.

That program is the cause of all your problems. Which program was it?

If you could get back in, try safe mode again, you can keep that unchecked and check the others.
