Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically

All right, I can't seem to get rid of this on my startup. And I want my computer back. :<

Anyways, here's the whole story: (don't laugh at me if I made any dumb mistakes I might have made D

I was just sitting at home after band practice one day and went to go watch YouTube, like what any normal 17 year old does after a busy day. Then I realized something.... my computer wasn't playing sound and couldn't find its own speakers. After a little internet research, I check for some drivers, which my computer didn't have the option for... so I kept searching and I see to do a system restore. So, I check and there was an update the night before that might have done something. I go ahead and do the system restore and then I kept getting this Startup Repair coming up. And it won't go away. That's my story.

    Now, for more details:

After the system restore, the startup repair would keep popping up, and now it won't go away. It's been about 3 days now. When I go to see the problem, I get this:

    Problem Event Name: StartupRepairV2
    Problem Signature 01: AutoFailover
    Problem Signature 02: 6.0.6000.16386.6.0.60001.18000
    Problem Signature 03: 0
    Problem Signature 04: 65537
    Problem Signature 05: unknown
    Problem Signature 06: MissingOsLoader
    Problem Signature 07: 0
    Problem Signature 08: 3
    Problem Signature 09: FixBootConfig
    Problem Signature 10: 2
    OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

Upon startup, I can get other options such as a system check, command prompt, and other options, which I don't want to mess with like a factory reset.

My computer is an HP Pavillion dv2500 with Windows Vista. Only other disk I can find with it is a disk that has "Upgrade your Windows Vista Experience" with in small print "Includes 32-bit software."

I've seen other people with similar errors and was hoping for some help. I will do anything as long unless it's inevitable to do the factory reset. I will also retrieve any other possible info I can get. Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Do you have a full version of vista or do you have a set of recovery disks...

Try going back a week to week and a half on the system restore. Heres how to do it properly.

    Create a Recovery Disc

    System Recovery Options

    System Restore

I threw in one more for you to read, it is better to print the tutorial and read from it while you are repairing your system if this does not work please let me know and we will figure it out. LOL

This started happening after I did a system restore to a day before my speakers stopped working, and now I don't have another day I can go back to.

Re: Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically

Oh, and I can't get rid of the startup repair thing. It comes up automatically when I start my laptop and have no idea what to do from there. I just want my files and not have to do the factory reset. That's the only thing I want.

EDIT: All right, decided to put out a little more info. So, the probably is after a system restore on a speaker problem, my computer automatically goes to startup repair, and I can't get rid of it. I do have a possibility for this disk to do something, though. It's labeled "Upgrade your Windows Vista Experience." Would that help fix it? Because I don't have any backups or any other discs. This is the only thing I have.
