Vista won't start in either Safe/normal mode

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista - Saturday my computer booted up just fine I downloaded a couple of clean up programs and tried doing to many things at once and froze my computer. I forced it to shut down and now it wont boot up at all. I ran the start up repair several times and sometimes it wouldn't find a problem but most the time it told me that it couldn't automatically fix the problem. I've tried booting up in safe mode and it doesn't boot. I've tried restarting with the last known good configuration and that doesn't work. I don't know how to do system recover or if I can even do that. I have also tried using the installation CD to repair it and that doesn't work either. Is there any hope? Is this something that can be fixed without losing the stuff on my hard drive?
