Hard Drive Working

Hi Everyone,

Not usually but sometimes at startup (but not long), but randomly throughout the day. Hard drive light starts flashing or even stays solid. Computer slows to crawl. Can last few minutes to several hours. Task manager, Process Explorer, Process Monitor show nothing significant active (95% Idle - 65% memory used - with exceptions as I work). Serious malware check says clean (MSE, MBAM, SAS, ESET scanner Msft Safety Scanner, WDO-Beta, TDSSKiller, and Hitman Pro).

Dell Inspiron E1705 Diagnostics say HDD Clear. Also checked two other HDD utilities that come up clear. Using 90GB of 145GB available.

Scans with Disk Defragmenter, Winlogics and Defraggler all say no defrag needed.

Old Timer TFC cleared all temp files - no change. Cleared System restore & made only one point - no change.

chkdsk /f /s clear. SFC /scannow no integrity violations.

Happens in clean boot (but with MSE excluded & running). Haven't checked Safe mode.

32-bit Vista Business SP2 - up-to-date.

Nothing in regedit Run that isn't in startup.

Tried disable index. Didn't help. Re-enabled.

Can't figure out what is running. Can't find equivalent of Process Monitor for Hard drive (Is there a program like that - couldn't find in free list).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike
