Have a friends old Compaq SR5540AN here and he went to use it after a long spell of it being idle and it just would start he said.
Turns out that it starts but goes to all sorts of blue screens and I have tried safe mode etc etc and even stuck an old XP drive in it and it went for a while but the Vista which was perfectly ok is now cycling back to the factory restore screen and I am not sure what this could be.
Have tested most of the hardware such as HDD RAM sticks and stuff so am beginning to think the mobo may be gone. Any ideas please ?
