Solved Need Help With Drag And Drop

Hello,
For some time my HP Pavilion dv7 has had a hair trigger pad.
Sometimes when I click on an icon to drag it around it responds as though I doubled clicked it and it opens.
It may take about 6 or 7 tries to pick up the icon instead of opening it.

I don't know if this is a Windows Vista problem or a Pavilion problem but drag and dropping is a REAL nightmare.
When it really starts getting nuts i get theses blue lines as though I'm grouping items for something like deleting (I assume)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome
You may want to go to control panel, mouse, then change then adjust the double click speed. Try to slow it up, see if that helps

Thanks, Rich!
That didn't even occur to me.

I just made the adjustment and will report back later if it works.
I have a good feeling though

Cheers!

The problem hasn't completely disappeared but it's much more tolerable now.
Thanks again, Rich.

Well yesterday I tried to move a file to my Seagate external HD and for some reason the Seagate didn't show up as an option in the "send to".
So I tried the old drag and drop routine...:(
MAN...something is wrong with my mouse pad.

Once I attempt a drag and drop the cursor goes nuts.
just drag it over any file and it will open it...so things are opening all over and the cursor will drop what you have and pick something else up along the way.
It will also start drawing blue square lines as though I'm isolating something to copy (I guess)
This all happens at once making my PC look like it's having a breakdown.(or that could be just me)
This cursor pad has always had a bit of a hair trigger so I have to try to drag Icon carefully and it usually takes about 3 to 5 attempts because each time it opens the Icon as though I double clicked.

So I guess I'm back with the same problem PLUS the problem of my Seagate not showing up in the "send to" options while it DOES show up in the Computer section.
