I experience a driver crash and recovery from time to time, especially when playing newer 3D games (primarily Lord of the Rings Online). Anyone else having any similar problems?

Hi.
This driver it´s in beta version, remembered, only you need put in mode sli, only one GPU, and the porblem finish. I have 2x 6800, and y resolver with this way.

regards.

The driver I am using is the 100.65 which is not a beta driver. It is WHQL certified. The 101.41 is the beta driver at the moment. 100.65 does not support SLI on my chip, so I do not believe that is an issue. The 101.41 driver does support SLI, but when install that games have very poor performance.

well i would of tried the way to fix it in the post before me but if you click on the link it dose says "Unfortunately, this fix is temporary…the problem will likely come back and you will have to do it again." i don't fell like i should have to do something ever time the error occurs ... i just don't understand why it just started happening..... i have had the grafix card for while and there is no reason why it would do this but i guess if this is the only fix i can find i guess it will have to do tell if pin point the real problem.... once again if anyone know how to really fix it or know why it dose this please let me know

Edit possible fix
During the installation of the current drivers, an OLD file
nvlddmkm.sys is copied or left in windows/system32/drivers and not the current onein the install. As a result the new drivers are attempting to access an older file instead of the latest.

Fix: Go to windows/system32/drivers and rename nvlddmkm.sys to
nvlddmkm.sys.old. Go to the nvidia directory and find the file nvlddmkm.sy_ for your current drivers and copy it to windows/system32.

Using the cmd window (DOS box) type
EXPAND.EXE nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys. When the expansion is complete, copy
the new nvlddmkm.sys to windows/system32/drivers and restart the computer.

Your computer should now work properly.

tryed the possible fix you posted.. well my boyfriend did.. he did it all and it gave the blue screen of DEATH! the most worse screen you could ever see... so i am guessing it must be the grafix card it self. but i dont see why it would just out of the blue happen but if you do find anything let me know

If you can go to c:\winodws\minidump. there you should find a dump file (*.dmp). can you zip the dump file and upload it to us so we can debug it?

Let us know if you need help with any of this

Gir- Have you seen nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered. The author gives twelve possible solutions.

For what it's worth, I had the same problem a while back (can't seem to find the post :huh:though). I had downloaded and installed updates for 'help' files for Microsoft Office.
I know it sounds unrelated, but I did it twice in six months with the exact same error message and also had trouble rebooting.
These updates were old (09/08) but it might be worth looking into what has been updated just before this started?
Might be a long shot, but it might help..

is there still a problem with it? (are you also receiving a pop up after the crash sayin "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered")
I know what the problem is,, and how i got it solved with mine.

I had this problem out of nowhere. Tried numerous fixes and no joy. Today I knocked back the resolution one click (from 1280x1042 to 1280x960) and it has stopped happening. (so far)

My Computer

I had this start happening to me a few months ago. For a whole year I had no issues; I could play heavy games like Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and FEAR 2 on my pc with nary a blip on the screen. Then it started crashing in-game with the "nvlddmkm Has Stopped Responding and Recovered." needless to say, I want to tear my hair out, because now my computer is just a very expensive word processor.

I've been trolling through all kinds of forums, and this problem seems to have it's roots all the way back in 2007, and no one fixed it then. PLEASE someone give us a concrete solution to this.

My system:

Windows Vista Home Premium Pack 32 bit
Direct X 10.1
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT (Driver v. 195.62)
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz
Memory: 3.00 GB
