Many thanks rajinisback for the prompt reply and yes again thanks for the welcome :D

Yes I found those and tried them, still have problems.

Will try again PM today and advise here.

Anyone got 64bit Vista and one of these working I'd appreciate a confirmation here please :)

My Computer

Thanks again rajinisback.

I have installed the driver/software a few times now and every time it opens the (expected) window like on my old PC by does not respond.

In the window title bar the path is C:\Users\everyday\documents\test.avi (not responding)

Here is a screen print.

((uploaded screen from my old PC - had to change WWW connection over))

I get the "not responding" comment every time.

I have power as you see and something on screen.

Is it time to ditch my favorite web cam?

I just started my old PC and it does works there on Vista 32 bit?

Again is here anyone who has this camera working on 64bit Vista I'd appreciate a confirmation here please :)

Hi wiskey7,
Here are few other things to try.
1 I would change the windows theme to Windows Classic. Test it
2 I would right click on the camera program and choose run as administrator. test it
3. Create a new user (and add the user account to local administrators group) then log on as that new user and try it.
Other than this im kinda out of ideas. I'm thinking the reason for the not responding is Vista is waiting on the device itself to echo back some commands or whatnot. Hmm

Thanks again rajinisback.

Yes I have searched the www for the answer here and found none :(

I bought a new MS camera this morning and am about to try it and will add here if that one works.

EDIT The newly purchased Microsoft LifeCam has the same problems :grr:

Any one got a camera working on 64bit and or have a similar PC config below I'd appreciate anything you can offer....

To let ya know I use the MS Lifecam on my vista 64 Ultimate and it works perfectly. Your should too.
Raj

Thanks.

What video card and MB do you have?

Mine is a brand new setup

What software did you use to setup the Lifecam?

Minie is the VX - 1000 version.

Still looking for a fix here if anyone can help please.

I don't want to reinstall Windows just for a camera!

The original StarCam_370i (worked on my old PC Vista 32 bit and the OS before that - XP - no problems) and the new Microsoft LifeCam Vx100 (purchased the other day) are not working on my new rig :(

I will venture to the shop tomorrow, a bit of a pain taking the box (CPU) back and forth! Oh well....

Hi Whiskey7,
I used the CD that came with my lifecam. I'm not in a position to check the model #. There could be an updated driver for X64 on microsoft.com. I'm using Biostar M PRo700 mobo (something like that) with a regular PCI xpress video card. Nothing fancy at all.
Your using MS Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM.
I am using Vista Ulimate DVD (retail) 64 bit but that should not matter I would not think.

Have you tried installing the latest chipset drivers for your mobo. That Lifecam should work fine really. In the BIOS you got all the USB ports enabled and have the speed set correctly to 2.0? You could also go into the BIOS and tell it to load optimal (default) settings. Maybe there is a BIOS upgrade for your motherboard. Just trying to give ya things to check.

OK here is the fix, something called a HOTFIX on the microsoft www, and yes they did reply promptly with a link to the fix with password?

Clue

Windows6.0-KB933433-x64.msu

Just google VX-1000 problems like I did and it is the fix.
