    Re: Vista Business (x32) DVD drives disappear when new software is installed

    sorry if this thread is kind of dead, but I'm having a similar problem with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    but in my case ALL regestry keys are MISSING
    I use a R70 Samsung Laptop (which too many people handle with too much freedom...), WinVista Home Premium
    Curiously enough my cd drives work (more or less) but appear as "unkown" in the task manager, and I'm unable to install the correct drivers...
    any insight?
    THX!

    I have NEC Versa Laptop, few days back suddenly my DVD drive was disapeared, I tried with registry editor, and deleted "Upperfilters" and "Lowerfilters" values, but it didn't help. it remain disappeared.

    Then i removed "Magic Disk" (Virtual Drive) from my PC , this action restored my original DVD drive.
    Later i installed "Magic Disk" again, now both drive (Original and Virtual) are working fine.
