HP webcam driver

Hello everyone

I have recently reinstalled my Windows Vista Home Premium x32 edition on my Pavilion dv9000 but I just cant seem to get my HP Webcam driver installed. Ive tried to download the driver from the HP site but didnt manage to change anything. Every time I get an error message or the devices wont work in one way or another!

Im so sick of dealing with these issues that anyone helping me would become my personal hero since Ive been dealing with these annoying problems for like a week now. Everything else I was able to recover and get working including the "rename folder" fix thanks to your forums.

I still have my old windows files saved in a folder if that may help anyhow.

Awaiting help paitiently! :(

You need to reinstall the Realtec RTL8101 driver from your recovery manager.

This is the webcam driver even though you would not think so.

It works having myself spent many hours trying to resolve this problem.

you have to show your hidden icons in your windows explorer... and the in the C: directory youll prolly find HP icon and inside that one the recovery icon with the links to the drivers and the rest!

Ok, here's what you do...

The recovery manager is part of the HP partition on your hard drive. It also can be found via a link in the 'HP help and support' file that should be sitting on your desktop. If you go into the help file then you need only to click 'backup and recovery' then click 'using HP Backup and Recovery Manager, then under 'Using Recovery Manager' click item 2, being the launch for your backup and recovery.

That will open the program. Click 'Advanced Options', click 'Hardware Driver reinstallation' then next again twice, so that you will be presented with a scroll list of drivers.

Choose Realtek RTL8101 etc, then next and it will automatically install your driver so that Webcam can be started.

The other way to find this program is to go to 'Start', select 'other programs', select Recovery Manager and once again follows the steps I have given you.

After selecting 'finish' your computer will reboot and Bingo, you have your Webcam back again.

Why HP has never posted this as the process I will never know.

Thanks, but I think you missed the bit about "this is not an HP computer" (Gateway). None of what you are saying pertains, but I am sure it is helpful to those with an HP.

Well the forum is:

'Coprocessor and HP webcam driver' but I do sympathise with you.

There are many drivers available on the web for webcams, including Logitech that can be downloaded from Dell, HP drivers from HP, Chicony and Acer.

Just search their websites and try each driver if Gateway do not have the driver you are seeking. You will in the end find a solution.

thx for the reply allanrw but i guess u missed my previous post cause I cannot find the realtek driver on my hp recovery manager list! I started the thread but in the meantime I managed to install the coprocessor driver!

My Computer

Did you scroll down the driver list as the image you get does not show it.

If you cannot find it I will try to send it to you via email...

sorry but it still doesnt work! I dont know what to do... I installed the driver and the device manager still is looking for drivers for the webcam!

im desperate...

Orfeus,

HP has a webcam driver called sp34746 which can be found on their site. Maybe in the absence of this driver together with the Realtek driver it won't work.

I found that b reinstalling the Realtek driver it immediately recovered my webcam.

I have a pavillion DX 6617TX running on 64 bit Vista Ultimate. Let's know your outcome as there is way out of this problem.

PS I am in Australia so I presume we have many hours difference in time.

I have a paviliondv9000 vista home premium 32 bit system. Im really not sure what to do and my notebook is only 6 months old...

bydaway would you be able to send me vista dvd maker since the version i reinstalled didnt have it and neither the vista games!
