OK, I've finally installed Vista 64 on my new build.. this is the first night I have it up and running.

I can't get online to update any of my drivers.. cuz my wireless card doesn't work.

Any suggestions. I even tried the disk, it only has x86 on it. so I ran a hardwire, can't usually, it's on the floor.

so I used it and downloaded some things I thought would work and I'm having NO luck with it. I don't kno whats wrong. or why I can't get it to work.

It's a Airlink Mimo XR 802.11G PCI Adapter mdel AWLH5026

and nothing will work, anyone can help please do.

I can't have this wire on the ground all week.

Thanks

Cory

Hi

Well, HERE is the only driver offered for this product, but after reading the specs page it seems that this particular adapter doesn't support Vista...
Airlink's site lists adapters that do support Vista and others that just go up to XP and this particular model only goes up to XP from what the specs say.

Did you purchase this adapter specifically for use with Vista or is this an older one that you're trying to get to work on Vista?
I think you're going to have to upgrade this card to get your wireless network working with Vista I'm afraid...sorry.

Hi

Well, the network stack is quite different on the 64bit Vista systems so this could be that the driver doesn't support 64bit yet.
I would contact Airlink101 support and ask them about this and see if they have or are working on drivers for 64bit systems.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll enjoy your Quad core...I built a new machine last year with the Core 2 Duo E6750 and it's plenty fast for what I do so far. I made sure my MB would support quad core in case I upgrade soon also.

Hey all, yeah I am bringing this one back from the dead. I had the exact same problem with this card after installing vista x64. I tried every driver out there, even downloading all the ralink drivers (ralink makes the chips for airlink) with no luck. So for sh!ts and giggles I went through the drivers allready installed on vista, and it had some ralink drivers that came oem, so I tried them one by one and the first of the three ralink catagories (you'll know what that means when you get there) has a 8011.2g pci driver that works perfectly! I just wanted to update this in case anyone else was having the same problems.

This card does, indeed, work with Vista / Win2k8 x64. The driver was not installed by default, though. You need to go to Ralink's website and get the driver for RT61 chipset for Windows.

Support Website:
Direct Link:

Then you have to install the drivers. They won't work automatically but they'll appear in program files\Ralink. You have to force device manager to use the Ralink drivers:

Device manager->Update Driver Software->Browse...->Let me pick...->Have Disk...->Browse to the Drivers in program files\Ralink\Drivers->Choose Ralink RT61 MIMO Wireless LAN Card Driver

EDIT: You CAN NOT let Windows try to search for the driver from the list, because Windows will not detect it on its own. You MUST manually select the driver because Windows does not know it is the correct driver. Also be sure to select the exact driver I listed (Ralink RT61 MIMO Wireless LAN Card Driver) if you have this exact card, the AWLH5026. If you choose the wrong driver Windows will try to install it anyway, and it may have unexpected or undesired results. I cannot be held responsible if you mess something up :)

Hey, if anyone has done this same thing.. let me know.

It's nice that even tho it's a dead thread, you guys posted what you found to work for others to also find and use.

I followed what you said below on that last reply and downloaded that driver, Installed and tried to install from device manager, i don't have a disk, and search for drivers, but it still wont work.

Anyone have a suggestion for me, I found this airlink in the closet and I was going to add it to a Vista x64 HP machine I'm selling tomorrow but I can't get this stupid wireless card to work.

No, you can't do "search automatically", you must follow my instructions exactly from my previous post. When it asks you to search or to pick manually, you must pick manually and select the "Ralink RT61 MIMO Wireless LAN Card Driver".

The reason for this is Windows does not know this is the correct driver, because it thinks it is an Airlink card. However, the chipset inside the Airlink card is the RaLink RT61 chipset. RaLink provides a 64 bit driver for this chipset, and Airlink does not because they suck and they went out of business or something. So use the RaLink driver by picking it manually and your wifi card will work.
