Am I compatible?

I am finally looking at upgrading to Vista Home Premium since I've heard the reviews of the SP1 fixes.

I'm determining if I should get 32-bit or 64-bit.
Can anyone tell me if my system and programs will be compatible?

I think I answer most of my own questions, please bear with me:

Motherboard: Asus P5B Deluxe
Processor: Intel C2D E6300
Memory: Corsair XMS2 6400 (4GB)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon x1950pro Ultimate edition
Keyboard: BTC 9019urf wireless keyboard
TV Tuner: Hauppauge PVR-250MCE (I checked the site and they have no x64 drivers)

motherboard, processor and video card will work for sure on any (32 or 64).
the ram, well, on a 32bit OS it will not use the 4GB because of a limitation of the OS itself, if you install vista SP1 it will show it, though it will only use somewhere between 2.5 to 3.5, on the 64bit OS, this problem doesnt happen.
keyboard will work on both operating systems, since drivers are available on the manufacturer's website.
and well, for the tv tuner, you are right, wont work on the 64bit OS because there are no drivers.

Thanks for the advice.
Everything seems to check out, except for my TV tuner, but since the US is dropping the analog signal early next year, it won't really do me much good for long will it. ha.

My only other item that I forgot to mention was Guitar Hero III. It doesn't support Vista x64. Although I have done some searches and found people who have gotten it to run with WOW64. I'm not sure how the setup will be, but I'm sure it won't be too difficult.

All of my hardware is practically 64-bit compatible.
Is there really a reason for me NOT to get Vista x64?

Hi all,
I run both X86 and X64.
X64 is installed on 2 machines just because they run some home-made apps which have been developped especially for Vista 64 bit which need hell of a lot of memory.
On all other machines, i run X86 mainly because i do not use 64 bit applications and even sometimes some old apps which run on X86 but not at all on X64.
Some hardware are also not at all compliant with X64, for example a TV sat PCI card, a quite old sound card but giving fantastic results, etc....

You have to know that most of the well known apps are designed mainly to work on X86 and are "adapted" to work on X64, only the specific applications are designed for X64, in that case the editor will give you the choice between the 2 versions.

So really it depends of the use of your machine but if you do not need especially to run real 64 bit apps, i would suggest 32 bit.... It is just my point of view.
The reliability monitor gives me 10 on all 32 bit machines, on the 2 64 bit they navigate between 5 and 7

I am waiting Vista 7 (next year ?), i think we will have some good surprises at this time.
BTW, the article is quite good, i mean writen a good way, you can find thousands of articles writen by experts which tell the exact opposite.... and for those who say: Yes but in the near future you will see that you are wrong, i just say that in the near future Vista won't exist anymore ;)
