[Can't Install!] Install pending at last step

Hello,
To begin, please forgive my english, I'm french (yeah, well, you know...)
Ahem, anyway :)

I have a HUGE problem
Here are all the things I have done :

1. Received my HP DV5 1010EF Laptop that had Vista pre-installed.
2. Formated and installed XP instead, with a driver that enables the S-ATA or AHCI thing on my hard disk (I am not an expert, sorry).
3. Didn't find the drivers for the sound for XP, so decided to switch to Vista.
4. Formated C
5. Tried to install Vista with my brother's Vista CD that he got with his Dell.

HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM COMES :

The installation goes fine until the last step. "End of installation..." .
And it stays like that for ages.

I read on forums that it was because of the S-ATA or AHCI thing on my hard drive that is causing Vista problems to install.
But I formated! So the PC should be like day one!

I have tried :

Clear CMOS
Hard disk test (passed the quick test and slow test, no errors)
Memory test (no errors)
Formating again

Nothing seams to work...

Please help me

Thank you!

Doesn't that laptop have a rescue partition in place of HP giving you the physical DVD? Have you tried using that instead of your brother's DVD?

hi

yes it had but I formated everything since I had a Vista DVD. And it's nothing to do with my brothers DVD because I managed to install it on an other computer and it worked fine...

EDIT: finally, worked!

I loaded the INF files of the SATA AHCI driver fro my hard disk when Vista asked for drivers at the begening of the installation :)
