You're welcome Peter.

You're welcome Peter.
I tried to download the 6.3 IntelliType/Point on my Vista 64 Home Premium pc, and I am still getting Error 1603. I have looked all over MS web pages for any kind of help. My keyboard can not be programed. Sure it works without all the programs MS claims it has, but the keys can not be programed unless the Intellitype is downloaded. My Cd that came with the MS Laser/wireless Desktop 6000v3 won't download. I did find a site on MS that said in so many words that the keyboard works even tho the IntelliType is not downloaded. True, but why make a keyboard with all the goodies for it, if the program won't work on my new PC. My computer is about 6 weeks old now and I have not been able to download the CD for the 6000v3 nor am I able to download the IntelliType and IntelliPoint from MS web page. I'd sure like to know what goes here!!

Using a Google Search I find many answers to that problem:
If the following doesn't help then try doing the search yourself...
Here's the Microsoft article on that errror: Error message when you try to install IntelliPoint, IntelliType Pro, or LifeCam: "Insufficient disk space"
Thanks for your reply. This was not the answer. My Error 1603 reads as follows:
"Setup could not install a required component: Microsoft application Error Reporting.
Restart your computer and try running setup again. If this error happens again, see the Readme file in Help for more info (Error Code 1603)"
I looked for help on my CD that is suppose to install IntelliPoint/IntelliType 6.3, but no Help file there! I am not a happy camper not knowing what to do. I have read
just about everything that MS has to offer for error 1603 and nothing has worked to solve this problem. I finally sent an e-mail to MS and hopefully, they will be able to figure out the problem. I will post the solution (if I get one) just in case someone out there has this same problem.
Thanks again!

As I said, use Google to search the error as there are many, many hits on it.
Also you might want to post the question in the mshardware support newsgroup.
or here: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...rdware.product

Groan, and I had only just reinstalled my mouse and keyboard! Ah well, you are keeping me on my toes Brink. Thanks.

LOL, you're welcome Peter.

It it just me or is this the desktop shortcut they create? When I right-click and go to Properties the option to change icon is greyed out.

Hi Peter,
I haven't noticed since I only run Vista in a VM now.
I suppose that you could create a shortcut from the Keyboard and Mouse Control Panel items to use instead for them. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else is getting this or not to.
