Vista - DVD/CD Rom Driver

I've had a search, but couldn't find any help.

My HP dv9000 won't recognise my Disc Drive.

This error message is displayed in device manager: 'Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)'

Should I uninstall then reinstall. If so, how?

See if you can update the driver in the device manager to see if it will reinstall the driver. If it won't update and still gives you code 39 remove the drive from device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.

It says I have the most up to date driver.

click on unistall with the device selected then click on scan for hardware changes.

Ok. It says the device was unable to install properly. Consult manufacturer.

What is the full model of your laptop HP dv9000 what.

Does dv9500 or dv9613tx help?

After installing click start then help and support then goto Recovery factory settings scoll down to Use the Recovery Manager then click on launch recovery manager click on advanced and select hardware driver re-installation and see if your cdrom dvd is shown and click select it then click next.

Driver was not in said list and it sent me back to Windows Device Manager. What next

What is the dvd drive name in the device manager when you expand the DVD/CD-ROM drives.
