| Newbie | Re: Update installation cancelled I believe this statement is totally incorrect: "Windows Update knows your hardware (most of the time) and is often less bugged than 3rd party update software." I've actually had numerous bad experiences where MS drivers and software updates for hardware caused severe problems. Why would MS know how to create drivers better than the manufacturer of the product? They have less invested as well. I rarely ever install the drivers from MS update. |

| Master | Thanks! So, I need to enable UAC, check the box to run that one .exe as administrator, then disable again (assuming I don't want all the other annoyances that come along with UAC)? Wow... I knew UAC was supposed to be a pain when it's enabled, but I didn't realize I'd start running into problems if I disabled it. Thanks again, Suzanne |

| Newbie | This worked for me after months of frustration, thanks Tom! I finally found this after being prompted to download the "installation cancelled fix" update and having the installation cancelled! ![]() Thank you Tom, you rock!!! I get Hewlett Packard Updates on a routine basis. I have owned the computer for about 45 days and have received app 6 updates. They are: HP Security Update Realtek high definition audio driver update Intel matrix storage manager driver update and Windows help and support update Each time I have tried to install them and each time I have received a note in the status column that "installation cancelled"? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Bill Weaver TRY THIS: Select Start All Programs Select HP Right click HP Update Select Properties Select Compatibility tab Check Run this program as administrator Select Apply Select Show settings for all users Check Run this program as administrator Select Apply Select OK Select OK The computer might need a restart at this point. then: Select Start All Programs Select HP Select HP Update Search for updates and install... ![]() Tom |

| Newbie | Re: Update installation cancelled When I got to the Hp Update window, I only have a settings button, not a properties button. If I hit "next" it starts to download updates. Veta |

| Newbie | Re: Update installation cancelled Got it! Thanks Tom. Forgot to right click. Reread it when I was awake, instead of tired out, and it made sense. After months of no installation, it works! Veta |
