| Vista Ultimate x64 | G5 cordmouse random freeze I have tried to google this for days now without any results. After a fresh install of Vista Ultimate x64 everything seems fine. But some times after (weeks or even months) suddenly my mouse starts to randomly freeze for a few seconds. Meaning I can't click nor move the mousepointer. Everything else is fine. I can ALT+TAB and use the keyboard as usual, and in games, the game continues properly. It is extremely annoying and I've tried refreshing the drivers, installing the setpoint software from logitech (no result at all). Any tips on where I can continue to resolve this problem? Else I will have to keep reinstalling windows every random week/month when this issue starts... This has happened 2 times before where I ended reinstalling the OS. I've read on a logitech forum someone claiming that this might occur due to a windows update that apparantly shuts on and off certain USB-devices. He claimed that MS was aware of the issue and where working on it, but the post was dated a year ago... Last edited by odinh; 10-16-2008 at 02:54 AM.. Reason: Added info |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: G5 cordmouse random freeze I have, but unfortunatly my MB does not support PS/2 mouse... I have only PS/2 input for keyboard. I've tried to connect it in that port but my mouse will not work then... Seeing noone else know a solution to this I guess I'm back to reinstalling OS... |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: G5 cordmouse random freeze Hi odinh and welcome to Vista Forums ![]() Microsoft updates can ocassionally cause problems with hardware devices, however with known problems the hardware manufacturer should provide driver updates for their devices in order to overcome the problem. Sometimes, this is not possible and the only way to solve the problem is to buy and install newer hardware which is compatible. Personally, I would change your mouse. This would be easier than having to reinstall Vista every time. Check my system specs at the foot of this post. I am using this mouse with the latest drivers and updates without any problems. Just one thought - you aren't allowing Microsoft to update drivers for hardware other than that manufactured by them, are you? Drivers and updates for hardware should be obtained from the relevant hardware manufacturer and not from Microsoft unless, of course, Microsoft is the manufacturer. |
