| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: GeForce 5200 Problem I think others will suggest to install SP1 first as Vista was a little on the iffy side w/o it. My x64 Premium came already with SP1 included this is why I was willing to install it. I know there is a way for you to disable auto-restart but I am not sure how to do that in Vista so I'll let the gurus chime in on this one since, w/o the error code, they won't be able to help much. Also, make sure you are using the "Run as Administrator" when installing the new drivers and also make sure you have uninstalled whatever drivers you have now. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: GeForce 5200 Problem Start (or Start/Windows key and start typing system and click on System) -> right click Computer and select Properties -> click on Advanced system settings -> Advanced tab and click Settings under Startup and Recovery -> uncheck Automatically restart and OK your way out Then when you get the BSOD you should get an error message, if you do write it down and then post it back here. As far as the drivers for that card go from what I can see there is only one available and that is the one you have. Seems that at least as far as the FX5xxx series of cards go, Nvidia has dropped all support for them in Vista. There is a newer driver that supports that series of cards for XP (the 175.19) but those won't work in Vista. It is possible to add the device ID for your card to the newer Vista drivers, but I have a feeling that the driver still won't work with your card. If you want to try doing that let me know and I can walk you through how to add the device ID and try the newer driver(s). |
