G9 Mouse problem

Hello all,

I don't know whats up but my G9 Mouse is now showing a blue square on screen when I press the middle mouse button down to scroll pages, it used to show a circle with 2 arrows within one facing up the other facing down if I remember rightly.

Now its just a blue square, its uptodate software and driver wise, so I really do not know what else to try, I just tried setting the wheel to a different option, it is currently set to Autoscroll, but nothing else makes the problem stop and go back to how it was.

I am stuck and if anyone knows why this is I would be very grateful

Many thanks

Re: G9 Mouse problem

Don't have that mouse mate, so I don't know what's causing it. Perhaps try uninstalling the drivers and software and then re-installing them.

Re: G9 Mouse problem

No problem, thanks for the suggestion, only thing is I am weary of doing that as the last time for some odd reason I ended up not being able to move the mouse and even the keyboard would'nt respond, and I ended up having to format as I could not even get here to ask what to do, so I am worried about it........I really don't fancy the prospect of formatting should that problem rear its ugly head again

That said I know that I'll do it regardless, get told one thing and do the opposite, thats me all over lol

Appreciate the help mate no matter what

Re: G9 Mouse problem

Sorted it, but its still a damn nuisance as its fine in IE but not in Firefox and that is the Browser I am now using, oh well, nothing I can do about it, I have the latest FireFox and Mouse software as stated, so I'd best get used it

Maybe hop on over here,

G-Series Mice - Logitech Forums

and tell Logitech to get off their collective duffs and see about updating Setpoint 5, which from what I can see on the download page for it is over a year and a half old.

Re: G9 Mouse problem

Believe me I have thought about doing that, and have read of so many others that have G9 and many other mouse problems, I hope they are not turning into Creative!! the problems I had with them and their blasted sound cards!! is another story

Thanks though, maybe when I calm down I will do just that

Re: G9 Mouse problem

Have you added any plugins lately for Firefox?

Adjusted what the middle mouse button click does ie Zoom Set

Are you using setpoint?

(To avoid re-formatting, you could always grab a cheap PS2/USB mouse / keyboard as a backup. I have a USB mouse and a PS2 KB connected for when my bluetooth has an occasional hissy fit and stops working. Which is becoming increasingly frequent )

Re: G9 Mouse problem

J & H, I have noticed (more so in Vista than XP) is that whenever I unplug my KB or Mouse from the back to clean my pc or upgrade hardware is that Vista takes a long time to set the drivers for the USB ports and this gives you the idea that you mouse & KB are not working.

It just happened to me recently when I upgrade my GPU, I had to unplug everything in order to get to my case, open it, take the old card out and install the new card in, XP took the changes right away but after restarting and booting up with Vista, I noticed I had no movement in the login splash screen, before getting upset and taking it out on my monitor or kids (which ever are close at the time), I went to my backyard to light up a smoke, when I came back, both KB & mouse were working and I was able to login to set up my new GPU drivers.

Now, being said that, I would hate for you to try this and have to reformat or anything so... thread lightly

On side of the token, Logitech is quick to launch a whole bunch of new devices but updating their drivers is not one of their fortes... I hate them for that.

Re: G9 Mouse problem

Hmmm,

I never thought of that as I have got a Theme running for Firefox, one that I used to use years ago with XP, and the theme is blue, so you may well be right, that is definately something I did not even dream of thinking about

I did adjust the mouse yes and it made no change and yes I am using Setpoint, the latest as I just checked for an update but as usual nothing

I do have other mice and keyboards and will keep them handy, problem last time was that even putting in an old keyboard and mouse did not help as I could'nt move that mouse either nor the keys on the keboard, no idea what I had done wrong back then, but it must have been me getting into the usual panic and then making matters worse lol

Cheers mate, I'll try removing the theme and see if it returns the mouse to normal, worth a try, I'll update my post if it does the trick.

Re: G9 Mouse problem

No worries. Hope it worked.

Try plugging the mouse and keyboard in now to install the drivers so if you have to plug them in later, they should be picked up straight away
