| Win7x64 | Re: Syst32 problem \windows\system32\syst32.exe is not a standard system file. However, given that it's apparently trying to masquerade as one, given the location and name (anything beginning with "sys" generally puts most people off tampering), there's reason to suspect malware. Unfortunately, a web search suggests that your machine has been compromised: ThreatExpert Report: Backdoor.Win32.IRCBot.gen, W32.Spybot.Worm, W32/Sdbot.worm.gen.a.. Of course, it's possible that you've installed some .Net app that just happens to have the same name as an item of known malware, so further anti-virus scans would be a good idea if you want to be sure. If you're using that PC to earn a living or to work on important documents, the safest option would be to completely flatten it and to start from scratch using known-clean media to reinstall everything. Otherwise, it's impossible to be sure whether the malware left other trojans or similar nasties hidden somewhere. Good luck with it. |
