Re: fingerprint?

Can you double check your model number? The following list is from Sony, showing all laptops of type VGN-CR3... As you can see, your model is not listed.

Here is a link to the required driver, and also a link to the VAIO laptops that use this driver:
Driver Sony eSupport - VGN-CR390 - Software Updates & Drivers
List UPDFPD-14004800-US.EXE (check your model number against this list).

Re: fingerprint?

i'm taking a stab-in-the-dark with this one, but i would guess by the name that it has to do with a fingerprint reader. i don't know, obviously, if yours has a fingerprint reader, but i state this because, at least in my case, the computer company may have had the software integrated into windows for a string of models in the same line. to give you an example, i have an acer aspire 5100 laptop and mine has preinstalled bluetooth drivers and has the bluetooth service too. but, my laptop does not have any bluetooth hardware! i would assume that the next model up, would have bluetooth hardware and every other spec the same as my model, so acer would save time and money by having a vista image they could deploy to many computers at the same time.

my two cents

Re: fingerprint?

Thats what i was thinking mpcrsc562, replying to dwarfs post, my laptop is a chinese model from sony, its not currently available elsewhere other than in china. if you run up a google search with my laptop model you will find the information on it, when i had to add drivers i had too do this and run google translator.vgn cr33 l - Google Search

ive got the driver installed Im just not sure on what it actually is, if its a finger print scanner id obviously have too add hardware too my laptop too access it ?

Re: fingerprint?

well, yes--if the driver in question is in deed a fingerprint scanner driver, and your computer does not have a fingerprint scanner, then you'd have to purchase one.
