| vista home premium | downloading xp drivers I had an internet connection problem a while ago which a friend of mine fixed by deleting my vista drivers and then downloading the xp ones. I just bought a new computer and im having the same problems. Anyone know how to do this without converting the whole OS? |

| Win7x64 | Re: downloading xp drivers You'd be better off describing the symptoms of your current problem so that others can try to help. Otherwise, the assumption that going back to "XP drivers" will fix everything may turn out to be incorrect and you're back where you started - with outdated drivers. |

| vista home premium | Re: downloading xp drivers ok, im dont know the technical way I can describe this for you, but when I play an online game I get these "lag spikes" every minute or so where everything around my character stops moving, or keeps moving in the same direction it was going when the spike started, for about 3-10 seconds. My friend ran some kind of diagnostics program and found that the internet was getting interrupted every minute or so, and he decided that that was what was causing the problem. I just talked to him on the phone and he told me that he fixed this by deleting the vista drivers and then installing the xp ones. If there is some other way to solve this please tell me. |

| Win7x64 | Re: downloading xp drivers That might indeed be a driver problem, but it can also be caused by many other things too. If your friend did something "techy" to diagnose the issue, you should get him to write up a couple of sentences here so that others can try to help you based on that info. Otherwise: - Try downloading the latest _Vista_ drivers for your NIC. - Bring up the Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and watch the processor utilisation on your machine for a while. Does it spike up to 100% or near it during one of these "lag spikes"? - Test what happens in other games. Is it limited to one game only? - Try booting to "safe mode + net" and playing The Game from there, if it works. Does that make a difference? Does it work without these "lag spikes"? |
