Monitor Help

I have a computer that is a Dell Dimension 2400 and had Windows XP on it. Ran into a virus problem so we had to reformat, in which we installed Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit. Everything is up and running now but I am having trouble trying to download a driver for my monitor. My resolution is stuck at 640X480, and my colors are Medium 16bit. I've downloaded the only kind of drive I could see from the Dell website and it doesn't help my problem. My model number on the monitor is a Dell 1801FP. Anyone have any suggestions or another model #'s driver I could download to help me solve this problem? I have a standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Thanks in advanced.

Hi Donmega, Welcome to the Forum
You need to install drivers for the graphic card not the monitor have a look here
Looking for Intel 845GV Graphics Drivers for Vista
Apparently you do not get a Vista driver but there is a work around for this

I hope this helps

Re: Monitor Help

Thanks for your help. I just now did that, and when setup went to run, it came up stating that "This operating system is not supported. Setup will exit".

So now I'm back to square 1.... Any ideas why this would be happening to me and working for others?

Re: Monitor Help

Ah yes, figured it out. When you go into properties to the compatability tab, not only do you need to check run as administrator... but you also need to check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP". It then let me run setup and now my problem is solved. Thanks for the help!
