Vista - Can't burn CD's or DVD's

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this as I'm about to lose my mind.

I have an acer aspire 9300 about 2 years old (I think) I used to be able to burn CD's and DVD's no problem but now it's not working. It goes through the whole process of burning (I've tried using iTunes, WinAVI, Nero and the standard system burner) but the disc that is produced at the end is still blank.

I get loads of output on the debug file from WinAVI:

2009-8-5 18:49:33 -- ZJBurner - Write failed...LBA=0 ErrCode=037303
Hundreds of lines saying: 2009-8-5 18:49:33 -- ZJBurner - Write failed...LBA=16 ErrCode=052102 but each with a different number after LBA
Plus a few of these 2009-8-5 18:50:49 -- ZJBurner - ERR Cmd:5B ErrCode=053006

I've tried just putting a .txt file onto a CD, but when I try to burn the file, it prompts me to name the disc, then goes through to format the disc but just stays on 702mb formatted with the message 'estimated time remaining'

I've been through loads of stuff on the forums but nothing seems to be working so far I have:

Run Microsoft diagnostic test - apparently all is ok
Removed upper and lower key from registry
Restored factory settings
Checked that the drivers say they are working properly
Tried updating driver through device properties and it says I have the latest update.
Run full system scan - nothing showed up apart from a tracing cookie

The DVD driver is TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D ATA Device version 6.0.6000.16386

I don't know what other information to give, any help would be much appreciated!

Have you tried looking in event viewer (typeevent viewer in search) to see if there is errorsassociatedwith the dvd.It might give give you an event id and source. if it does plunk themintogoogle and you should find infoabt the problem

Try this simple thinks we dont have anything to lose.
A)Check the wires(power and data) of the dvd drive.
B)Clean the lazer eye with weak alcohol 5-10%.
Try to burn a cd or dvd.
C) Control panel/device manager/dvd/cdrom drives,right click on your dvd,unistall it.
Restart, the windows will install again the driver.
Try to burn a cd or dvd.
D)Update the firmware.
Try to burn a cd or dvd.
