Ati driver not installing

Hi, my first post here.

I'm having difficulties updating my graphocs driver. I uninstalled it, used driver sweeper, installed the 9.9v and still in device manager it says I have the 8.6v.
It's for the HD3300, and I think the fact that the driver is not up to date is the reason why, when I play games, I'm getting BSOD with bccode 116 and a LiveKernelEvent error.

Specs:
phenom2 x3 920 2.8ghz
4gb crucial ram
arctic 700w psu
M4A78T-E motherboard (790gx chipset)
vista business x64 sp2

Would be grateful for anyhelp at all on this.

Install the latest driver and note what directory it install to.

Go to System -> Device -> Display Adapter -> Properties -> Driver

and then specify the directory to update the driver from.

Just tried this. Went to device manager, clicked browse my computer for driver software, specified the directory, clicked next and got told that the driver is up to date, even though I know it isn't.

[edit] Oh and thanks you for the fast reply :)

Gah that didn't work either, I don't know what's going on :S.

When I'd gone through the whole process of making sure everything was uninstalled etc, and I am reinstalling the driver, it still is asking me to install version 8.650 when the version i downloaded from ati is 9.9!

Sorry you are having so much trouble. So when it asks you if you want to install version 8.650, do you say no or cancel? Then try to update from specified directory?

Did you try option 1 or 2 from this URL?

Yes, but I used the 64bit version, thats the 32 bit.
It gives me a small list of about 5 things to install, one being that driver. I installed that drive and I clecked yes. I download the 9.9v, start the exe, and then it asks me to install the 8.650...

Also, after uninstalling the driver, catalyst etc, and usuing drivercleaner, and relogging back into windows, I do not get a "new hardware detected" message. I think one should come up right? as I supposedly have this HD 3300 hardware here, with no driver because I just uninstalled it, but no message. I looked in device manager, and the HD 3300 is not showing up there, but still, I have the feeling I should be expecting a message.
