BOOTMGR is compressed - i have no Vista cd

Hi, i turned on my computer today and bootmgr is compressed press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I have google it online to try fix it but all i can find is i need the vista cd but i dont have the cd as the computer was given to me and all i got was computer and plug.
Is it possible to use any vista cd from someone else??
Please help i miss my computer.

Download the recovery disc - gives you the system recovery options. ( get the same bit version , 32 or 64 as you currently have installed )

When it has found the installed o/s , click Next

Click the command prompt, type notepad, press enter.

Notepad pops up - click File then click Save.

Navigate to the drive - rt click it , select Properties.

Untick Compress this Drive, Apply, OK.
