    Nvidia driver issues?

Hi, I've been having an issue which is causing me to have to reinstall my video card driver after every reboot. I have another video card enabled on my system just so that I can restart my computer - typically if I use my new card (GeForce 9400GT), I get to the screen right before where I would enter my Windows user name and password and I get nothing but a blank screen - I know the PC is starting up because I can hear the startup sound. If I reboot it in safe mode, it starts up just fine. What I end up having to do in order to start up is unplug the cable connected to my new video card and wait until windows starts (with the incorrect resolution and graphics), change the resolution, disable the crappy video card, plug the cable connected to the good one into my monitor and hope for the best. Usually this goes pretty smoothly.

I tried this card/driver in my old PC and I don't have the problem on that computer, so I know the card and drivers are not the problem.

if you have another graphic card on a pc you must not install the driver for the initial graphic card.. is your first graphic card and integrated one.. try to uninstall the driver of the other graphic card and install only the nvidia one..

I think ashvin has the right idea here, if you are bumping for an answer at least you could give him a reply.

I actually haven't been home to read it, that's why I hadn't replied yet. Thanks for the help though, Ashvin.

I read the link and I'm not having random crashes like it says... should I still be doing this? Also, the processes listed in my task manager were only programs I was using (firefox) and the processes it said not to end.

yes uninstall the inboard graphic driver and install only the Nvidia.. you can't use two graphic drivers on a same pc it creates friction.. "Just like having two wives" lol.. but yea the link is just a quick reference can might not be all of your case but still can help for trouble shooting..

The ONLY reason I'm questioning you is because I'm a retard and don't want to be without a PC til I buy a new card if I screw this up.... My other video card is a Nvidia as well... same deal in that case? Thanks again!!

Okay, so I uninstalled the driver for the crappy video card (the old one) and it IS the same driver as the new one, because right when it finished uninstalling it, my PC shut down and restarted. When Windows started up, the resolution had changed back to 1400x1050 and the newer video card was disabled. Eeeek!
