Solved Lexmark E210/Samsung ML-1210

I am Home Premium 64 bit. I bought a Lexmark E210 at a garage sale for $5. It seems to work fine, so I want to load the Vista 64 driver. Lexmark has not provided such a beast. Another website said the Samsung ML-1210 was compatible. I have loaded the correct software to a TEMP file but cannot get it loaded. Windows recognizes the printer type correctly, and when I point to the TEMP file ML1200/Printer/GDI/Vista64 it says it cannot identify the driver or can't load it or (I forget exactly). Vista64 is still a folder, and it has 50 or so application extensions and compiled HTML and video files etc etc but nothing I can recognize as the driver file. I can load the driver into the Samsung printer file, but of course the computer does not recognize that the Samsung is physically the Lexmark. Can you tell me the way to go? Thx kindly. YONNY

Try this, go to the website for the driver. Send it to a temporary file in Documents. Go to the download and right click, and then install in compatibilty mode (if the driver for your OS is not actually available from Lexmark). Then with the printer off and disconnected begin the download. When told connect and turn on the printer. Shut off the computer and boot. It should be working.

If that does not work go to Lexmark and download the driver for XP (with the correct bit) and follow the same procedure. You will get the printer to work.

Re: Lexmark E210/Samsung ML-1210/RichC46

Hello

I appreciate your help and tried both to the best of my ability, but neither was successful.

Re the second, there is only one Lexmark XP driver for this printer, so I cannot choose 64-bit. When I download it, ultimately Windows says it cannot load it because it is not compatible and sends me to the Vista compatibility page, where it searches and says nothing is compatible. It does not seem to accept that the Samsung driver is compatible, but that is another story. (Another thread on this website said Samsung would work.)

Re the first suggestion, I sent the driver to a temporary file, but which one am I to right click on? There are several files under the parent file ML1200, do I go successively to Printer then GDI then Vista 64 (below which there are 50 or so files)? What extension am I looking to right click on, and where? Regardless, I right clicked on a number of files to investigate and never got any option that looked like an installation choice, let alone a mode.

I admire people like you who seem to know so many intricacies and I am always baffled at how I cannot seem to make them work.

Have you tried saving it to your desktop and then trying richc46's suggestion.
At least you will know where it is.

I have the same problem that Lexmark E210 does not work under Vista Ultimate 64bit OS. The only driver that I found from Lexmark website is E210wxpe.zip which is working fine for Vista Ultimate 32bit.
The forum mentioned that Samsung ML-1200 is compatible with E210 but I could not find any instructions to install it. I would appreciate help from the forum.

I was able to install E210 driver using E210wxpe.zip and is working fine for Vista Ultimate 32bit. When I tried to use the same file for another computer running Vista Ultimate 64bit, it does not work. During the install, I selected compatible mode and USB port. The install was completed successfully but error was detected when printing the test page. I did turn the printer on and off and was getting errors when printing.

Have you tried the lexmark support site? It sounds like you got it installed so they should be able to answer your questions.

I did try the Lexmark support but there was not much luck. The support provided by Lexmark is to search their problem database. After entering "Printer driver of Lexmark E210 for Vista 64-bit" or variations of the above question, the search result is none. They don't provide any option to submit new problem. I'm really disappointed by the official support from Lexmark/IBM. That was the reason I try this forum and hopefully someone could help.

I have the same Lexmark E210 with Windows 7 64 bit and the same issue. Mine works now.
Install the Samsung ML-1200 driver from Samsung site.
It will say to turn on your printer and it wont find it but go ahead and install it.
Then go into Devices and Printer and you should see the Samsung printer. Right click on it and choose printer properties > Ports tab and make sure the correct USB or correct port is specified. THen print a test page.

Worked for me.

Hi, I have an E210 Lexmark Laser b/w as well and I just upgraded to windows 7, now I really wish I had not way to many problems. I downloaded the samsung ml-1210 universal drivers dated 2010, was this the correct one? How do I remove them if so? Support - Black and White Laser Printers ML-1210 | Samsung Printers then I clicked manuals & Downloads tad, and driver. I have added a printer, and all, but I think i have the port wrong, how do I tell which usb port it is? It thinks my samsung/E210 is offline and the plug n play is still trying to add my E210 when I turn it on off? Please help me, and tell me what I am doing wrong. Debra :)

My Computer

I also have a Lexmark E210 laser printer. I followed suggestion and downloaded driver for Samsung ML-1210, installed, and printer printed (using USB/parallel cable) after I selected the USB port. Restarted laptop today and can't get E210 to print. Have deleted printer and reinstalled the Samsung driver, but printer won't print. Have also tried using a pure USB cable, but no difference. What to do now? Larry

My Computer

TVM for this. After delaying the PC upgrade for six months because it wouldn't recognise the E210 printer, I bit the bullet and it is now working fine after following your fix.
