SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller - Error

Hi There,

I haven't used my SD card reader on my ASUS F3E, Windows Vista 32 bit for a while, but when I tried to stick a card in this morning it said the card needed to be formatted every time I tried to explore it.

I thought it may have been the card so got another one totally different brand and size. Same problem, so I updated the driver via the internet which said it was up to date. At this stage there was no error marker on the driver in the list.

I then uninstalled the driver and and found this one on the net;
RICOH_R5C833_vista_070514
which I have to assume is the right one as it claimed that it was up to date also. I've tried several times to install/remove and it always loads in ok but there is an error in the list now all the time on;
SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller

In properties of the driver it says;
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great!

Hello Punkinson, welcome to the forum.

A Code 10 error is generated when Device Manager can't start the hardware device, a situation usually caused by outdated or corrupted drivers.

Make sure to Full scan your updated anti-virus program. And also full scan your computer with updated Malwarebytes and restart your computer.

Now you go to the website of the device's manufacturer, and check their download or support section for current, up-to-date drivers and patch kits.

Hopefully, this may help in your problem.

Can you please provide system specs for your system?

Thanks.
Arvin

Thanks Arvinwebb & Roy69,

I know there is no such thing as 100% protection but I run the below all the time and have not found anything recently. But that doesn't mean I don't have something I guess, I have the following antivirus/spyware/malware protection;

- Zonealarm Extreme Security (Paid version)
- Advanced System Care (Paid version)
- Adaware (Paid version)
- IOBit Security
- CleanUp 4.5.2
- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

As for my computer statistics, I'm not sure what else you need to know;
Vista Business, SP2, 32 Bit
Intel Core2 Duo [email protected]
3GB Memory
ASUS F3E Notebook

Roy suggested a link but the driver there is the one I already installed. I did get the current card driver from the ASUS website.

I appreciate the help so far.
