    my cd dvd rw is not working

    I know nothing about computers but my dvd cd rw is not working it is giving me code 10. Pls help don't know what to do. I have vista, emachine desktop.

    Lets start with this
    Go to search
    type device manager
    in device manager look for any small yellow triangles, they mean that the driver must be updated.
    If you do not find any go to dvd/cd rom device drivers and update the driver.

    When I go to device manageri right click on the yellow triangle n udate drivers software but then it tells me software is up to date.

    If there is yellow triangle, it can be up to date, but probably corrupt. Uninstall and then install again.

    OK so I right clicked then uninstalled it. Then clicked on scan for hardware changes then installed it but it said failed. Also said place consult with device manufacturer for assistance getting the device installed.

    Try going to the website of the manufacturer and download from there.
