My windows vista home premium 64 bit sp2 4gb ram Medion system has stopped my device driver for my dvd-rom (HL-DT-ST DVD Ram GH22NS40) from working properly (having previously working well for 2years). This all happended after I connected a new iHBS212 bluray drive (which is havng the same issue & I have also disconnected this and still my old drive wont work).I now get an error code 39 message and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. I have updated the motherboard bios and windows vista OS and have tried unistalling and reinstallinmg the driver as well as searching for a solution online (I cannot access the drivers or firmware for either device from the liteon website as it gives the following error message "Database error: cannot connect to Database Can't connect to MySQL server on '202.145.180.11' (4)MySQL Error Session halted."
If you are able to obtain the drivers and firmware for these drives and eith post a link or send me the files to try and resolve this that would be great or if you can offer any other advice - please get in touch. **NB** I have seen a simmilar issue for toshiba drives and see that the solutions suggested involve updating the drivers - hence the request.- Kind Regards - Dave:(

I have updated the firmware for these drives and confirmed that they are working ok on an XP based machine so it is obviously a vista conflict issue:cry:

Try doing a system restore before you installed the blu-ray drive. Does that work?

Set a restore point then try this
press Windows key and R
Type regedit, and then click OK.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset.

The last piece of advice really worked well, except that there was not an "upperfilters" option to delete so I instead deleted the "dvd default" setting (that was at the top of the list in the right hand panel). Anyway upon restart the drives were both recognised and are working as the should so job done. THANKYOU "ilikefree" & "wither 3" for you suggestions I am so pleased to get this resolved. LG advised me to contact Microsoft for a solution and Liteon have not even got back to me so I would have been snookered without this forums help - Cheers once again - Dave
