cdde 19

For some reason both my dvd cd drives are not recognised saying the drivers are corrupt or not full installed and adds code 19. I would be grateful for any advice. system restore doesn't solve the problem.

Welcome
Go to search type device manager. Do you see very small red arrows near the drivers for the problem drives? If you do reinstall. If you do reinstall. If not, and the drivers are a bit old, reinstall.
Edit: I am sure this is a driver problem. Reinstall the drivers regardless of their status.

Hi Richard no little red arrows but a yellow exclamation mark on both drives, I can't uninstall the drives or seem to be unable to up date drivers as when I try o do that is says I have the best drivers for the drives. I have downloaded one of the drivers from LG but the system doesn't find it

OOPs, I think I should have said yellow. Follow my post.
See if you can roll back.
You must uninstall before you try to install from the website.

wondering if I need to go into registry and delete them from there then reboot? but not sure of the procedure.
The rollback is greyed out... have to go out right now but will check back

Lets give Microsoft a chance, its their product and may know the solution

If that does not work
I am still of the opinion that its just the drives and replacing them should have done the trick.
Go to Device manager again and uninstall the drivers, boot the computer and then install them again. It really should work.
If it does not, lets check for OS corruption, try an SFC. If errors are found run three times.
If that does not work, create a new user account and see if the problem is solved from there. Your account may just be corrupted and in a new account, every thing will be fine.
