You need to look at core speed. Most hings only use 1 core, so haveing 2 fast ones is better than 6 medium ones.

But if a program uses more than 2 cores, the medium 6 one beats the fast 2's.

well to my eye anyway .
i was reasing not to long ago that a [AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor]this is a 6 core but it is sold has a 4 core .so you could over clock it at 6 no problem .
there is a lot of cpu that are sold under of what they really have [core].
but i guess it to late now .
maybe next month i buy it
