No, VMWare is the same that way. You're always going to see this in a
virtualization product -- one of the biggest draw of virtualization is
hardware independence, and that's only done by presenting the same
hardware to the VM all the time.

There is a very special (and costly) version of one of the
virtualization products that can use a host video card (it has to have
two to pull this off, and it has to be VERY specific hardware.) I
don't remember what it was but I don't have a couple thousand to throw
at something like that.

For the future, there are some new things being built into CPU's to
make it easier, but I don't see a VM having full access any time
soon... (nor do I think I'd want it to -- if you need that kind of
access it's going to be cheaper to just run it on the host rather than
dealing with a VM.)
>> I have become curious enough about running virtual PC's that I want to
>> take the plunge. I have done some searching on Google and found various
>> articles that describe the basic concepts involved, but most of what I
>> come across is marketing information. My intent is to run Win Server 2008
>> with HyperV and use it to provision Win7 virtual PC's that can be
>> accessed by clients remotely. Think employees working from home type
>> scenario, the virtual PC's will have the same image and I need to provide
>> for at least 10 people. How beefy will the host need to be to accomplish
>> this? If you can point me at resources that explain the hardware
>> requirements in more detail it would be great.

>
> Microsoft Virtual PC is a piece of desktop application software which
> allows one operating (the host) to run virtual machines running other
> operating systems (guests). Although these virtual machines are
> functionally identical to physical machines to the extent where the
> software running on them (both OS and applications) can't ordinarily tell
> the difference, this is really not designed to be a multi-user solution.
> I.e., it is primarily designed for one user to access many virtual
> machines, not many users accessing the same virtual machine(s) remotely.
>
> From what you've described of your requirements, it sounds like this is
> what you require:

Before we can help you we need to know some information.
What Host OS are you using?
What Guest OS are you trying to use?
What options did you select for the Network Adapters in the guest?

The screen resolution can be changed but it seems that your installation has
not detected your host display size.
It should adjust automatically. Try changing it through the display
properties.

The problem solutions will depend on the answers to the above questions.
