Mail server password

Hey!
Im not really much of a computer wizzkid so pardon me if im not making much sense.
I went into tools>account>default mail account>servers tab>

My problem started then. Stupidly i changed my password thinking that i would be able to set it to open up and ask me for one when i tried to access my mail. My reaon for this was so others wouldnt be able to see my mail as i constantly forget to lock my laptop when im away from it.

Anyway i clicked apply and close. then i pressed send/recieve to checkif i had any new mail come in. A popup appeared asking for my username and password so i inouted the password that i had just changed. This is not working for me. And i do not know the old password to change back.

Any ideas what my problems are?

Issue w/ Outlook 2003 on a Vista 64bit PC

I recently installed Outlook 2003 on a Vista 64bit PC. I migrated my Outlook contacts and settings successfully and connected to my IP server. I verified that I was able to send and receive e-mail by sending a message to myself.

The problems:

1) I open outlook on initial startup, but it does not automatically download new e-mail from the IP server. I have to click "Send/Receive", then the new e-mails appear. How to I set Outlook to download on startup?

2) If I close Outlook during a session, or if I hibernate (ILO shutdown), when I re-open Outlook, or "wake up" the computer, the "Send/Receive" button won't work and I can't access the "Send/Receive" settings. The only way I have found to resolve this (temporarily) is to reboot the entire system, or never close Outlook after initial startup and don't hibernate.

Any insight is appreciated.

Can I run Internet Explorer from live CD?

I have a Vista laptop with an Ubuntu partition.

I've been gradually moving everything to Ubuntu. But I can't run Internet Explorer on Ubuntu.

I need to use IE for about 4 hours each month, to run a .NET web client that cannot run in Firefox.

I don't want to keep 22GB of Vista files just to run IE (Ubuntu uses 3GB). So, is it possible to run IE from a live CD?

I would be grateful for any advice, links, tutorials :)

Strange email codes in subject line

Hello,

Why do some emails come with letters that spell out no words in the subject line? Or there are nonsensical letters in between or after short phrases?

How can I figure out what they mean? I am on a shared computer and I don't open them but am not sure if they are meant for me or not.

VISTA MAIL - "Blank" error given

Been using Vista Mail for a long time. Recently when I press the "Send/Receive" button it throws an error.

There is no error code and only the text, "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list below for more details".
There is nothing listed below and the Errors tab window is completely blank.

I tried searching around Google for an answer to this and found some tips about file space that didnt work.
I compressed my messages. Then cleaned out my Sent folder. Then I just wiped out every message I had.
I deleted all msgs in Deleted Items, Sent Items, Inbox, Junk E-mail and Recovered messages.

Still receive the error.

Crazy thing is it ONLY happens when I press the "Send/Receive" button.
It will not send or receive any messages at all this way.

When I shut down Vista Mail it tells me if I have unsent messages in my Outbox and asks if I would like to send them.
I click "yes" and it sends them and retrieves any new mail on the server no problem.

Vista is updated daily
Im using Vista SP2 and Mail ver 6.0.60000.16386

How do I get rid of this false blank error.

help! lost email .mbx files how to restore

OK, my vista laptop crashed and i have some very important emails on it. I have its hard drive connected to my pc via a usb cradle and can access it ok.
i have recovered all the email and they are .mbx files. couldnt get them into XP OE so I installed vista because i thought it would be compatible.
I still cant import them!!
Its driving me nuts
please help!

Continual Windows Mail Log-on Requests

Hello - new to all this and a bit of a techno-phob so bear with me. Got a new computer a few months back that was working fine however for the past couple of months anytime we try to use our Windows Mail we are faced with repeated Windows Security Log-on verification requests seeking a username and password. We on average need to repeat this process on about 8 - 10 occasions before our mail will download etc. Ive contacted Norton who gave some instruction but they say its a Windows problem and not Norton 2009. Its driving me insane. Can anyone offer any lay-man type advice???? many thanks.

IE8 Visual C++ Error When First Opening Only

I get the attached error when I first go to open IE8 (x86) but not at any time subsequently. It is followed by the Internet Explorer must close etc. However my session stays open, so it's as if a phantom browser session was invoked simultaneously.

R6025 - pure virtual function call

Windows is fully up to date with all updates, both critical and non-critical and I've searched this error on the web and have come up blank with what to do to stop it other than uninstalling an add-on which I use constantly.

It happens only in my Vista Ultimate SP2 x64.

The only thing that seems to coincide in the Event Viewer is...

So it appears to be caused by Google Toolbar, but as I haven't seen it before and it doesn't seem to happen in Windows 7 where I also have Google Toolbar, I'm wondering if anyone has a clue as to why this is happening. It's really just an annoyance rather than a major problem.

since upgrading to explorer 7, my outlook express is not longer there and windows mail is, and even though I have the program set to save sent mail to folder, it isn't there, and mail that I just look at, but don't move to a folder, the next time I go to look at or re-read, is gone, fanished. What is going on.

Solved I need Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail.

I hope someone can help...I need Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail.

I currently have the program running on my Vista O/S, but want to install it on another Vista PC.

Strangely, whenever I Google (or Bing) "Windows Mail Download" I get steered to Windows Live Mail.

I really want the 2006 vintage "old" Windows Mail Program. The "About" section of the installed program shows a 2006 copyright and tells me I have version 6.0xxx installed.

That's what I need - another download of the same product. Does anyone know where I can locate a download of it?

sending mails at fixed times

Sometimes I work at night - but I do not want my employee to recognize it from the e-mails, that I do so. Can I write the e-mail at night and then get it send automatically at 8 am?

Hi folks. I have Vista Home premium, and am using Windows Mail as POP3 and SMTP client. I recently had to set up a second user account so that I could access various services at work. What I'm wanting to know is HOW can I set this up so that the same Windows Mail account appears in both? I have it set up with for the same login details etc, but can't seem to get the same folders to appear. I thought it was a sharing problem, but have shared the relevant directory. I'm stumped.

omg i downloaded a game client for internet explorer but when i try to open it it says internet has stoped working and idk how to fix it.... i read the other forums and the told me IE, tools, internet options, advanced then reset settings but it still doesnt work.... sombody help me please ??????

Can I automate Windows Mail Export?

Hi, I'm looking to use command line commands to generate an Export of my current Windows Mail messages. I know that I can do this interactively, by selecting "Export" and then "Messages" and so on, but I want to do it via a script so that I can schedule it as a task and not have to remember to do it. In actual fact, I'm looking for some way to back up my e-mail contents, so it's possible that Export isn't even the right option. Regardless, I'm looking for a way to script the operation. Does anyone know how to do this?

Vista's Windows Mail: user/password linked to Windows' login?

Whenever a user changes their Windows password, the next time they open their mail, it prompts them for user name & password. It appears that the user's password changes the Windows Mail password, thus causing Windows Mail to prompt for it because the newly saved password doesn't work. I can't find any help on this anywhere. Any ideas how to unlink this?
