COD 4 doesn't work after install. Some people have complained about this but no solution has been presented. How do you get it past the program stops working screen?

What exactly is the error or condition that is happening? Also what are your system specs?

This is the retail, no demo. After the game launches and changes the screen for like 3-4 seconds it pops back to the desktop saying the program cannot respond.

Have you tried a fresh re-install? Also have you updated to the 1.4 patch? Make sure that when you get it up and running you go to evenbalance.com and update punkbuster.

I had to upgrade a lot of the firmware in my son's system in order to run COD 4 on Vista x64. That includes the North/South-bridge chipset, the GPU chipset, Audo Processor chipset. Once those updates were done some of the drivers also needed to be refreshed. Additionally, I applied 43 fixes to Vista itself.
With all of that done - COD4 single User and multi-player both run like velvet!
